Press: Saab Safest Car in Sweden Again Again Again
Posted by The Saab Network (more from The Saab Network) on Fri, 9 May 2003 15:06:50

Saab 9-5 continues Saabs tradition as 'The Safest Car of Sweden', an award
given by the Swedish insurance company Folksam. The award is based on a large
number of real traffic accidents in Sweden and statistical analysis of risk
of fatality and injuries causing invalidity in car accidents.

The three first Folksam Awards were given to Saab 9000 in 1989, 1992 and
1994. For example, Folksam in 1994 established that Saab 9000 was 65 percent
safer than the average car and therefore in its own safety class compared
with the best competitors. In 1999 Folksam named Saab 900/9-3 and Saab 9000
as some of the safest cars on the Swedish roads. The cars were ranked into
the 'Gold group' of five car models that according to Folksam were 50 percent
safer than the average car. It is natural that the Saab 9-5 now has taken
over the role as the safest car since Saabs safety policy 'The Real Life
Safety' is also based on analysis of real accidents.

At an award ceremony arranged by Folksam May 5, Saab Automobile was
represented by its Chairman & CEO, Peter Augustsson, Per Lenhoff, head of the
crash safety team and Torbjorn Olsson, President of Saab Opel Sweden.
