Hi Nick,

I've had the same thing happen, and all that is probably required is, you
take it to a garage, and they 'lube up' the latch mechanism. They charged me
$40 for it (no parts were replaced).

If I had known that was all that was needed, I might have tried WD40-ing the
crap -- excuse my french -- out of the latch mechanism before I took it in,
but alas... Of course, I have no idea if spraying WD40 from the outside would
have done any good, but it might be worth a try ;-)
