Following some heavy rains last week, I found that the driver's seatand floor mat of my '78 GLE (5-door hatchback) were wet. I playedwater on the LF door and sunroof. The door has no leak, but, after aminute of water flow, water appeared at the edge of the headliner nextto the LF door. I checked the front drain holes and hoses in thesunroof well by running water through them, and they seem OK. Afterpoking around under the head liner with my hand, I finally threw inthe towel and removed the headliner. Following that, I can now seethe leak more clearly: it appears to be coming from the a point justabove the left front drainhose, from the junction between the sunroofwell and the roof.I am reluctant to poke around further without more of an idea of howthe whole assembly is put together, and what the real cause of theleak is. I'd appreciate suggestions and advice from readers of thislist. Frank Belvin (fbelvinno39sdcx6spamx782mbunix.mitre.org) (617) 271-7659
