Schrum) on Thu, 5 Oct 1989 19:58:56 I have a 1985 900 Turbo whose heater doesn't work. The heater controlknob no longer turns on the heat. At several Saab service places, while I was waiting for some other service, I heard of at least oneother person having a similar problem each time so this seems to be acommon problem. I removed my dash radio and the support box to gainaccess to the connecting rod between the control knob and a valve (Ithink it's a valve) located on the back of the dash. Sure enough, theconnecting rod had fallen off (BTW, there is no positive connectingbetween the connecting rod and either the control knob or the valve, only a small spring clip for the control knob!). I replaced theconnecting rod but the heater still doesn't work. This leads me tobelieve that the valve at the firewall is broken. Has anyone had anyexperience with this type of problem? Is that valve a true valve(simple on/off) or is there more to it. If I turn the connecting rod byhand while it is not connected to the control knob, the valve justturns and turns. Any help would be appreciated.-Allan G. Schrum...!gatech!rebel!didsgn!allan Posts in this Thread:
