on the loss of your 9000 's transmission...
i am terribly sorry for you ! do not, however, feel too bad. MOST of us have been there before. It is a REQUISITE of real SAAB ownership as far as I am concerned. (You are entitled to extreme sympathy when your SAAB gets to the point of working on its third transmission.)
its a good thing airplanes never needed transmissions, or else the world would never have known SAAB cars.
as for replacements, i tried to avoid what i thought was the high cost of a dealer doing the repair for my 9000 T transmission. I went with a shop that had done SAABs b4. terrible mistake. they had the car over a year and in that time managed to get over $3000. from me (it was back together and running three days at two different times that year, but not with all gears.) the shop folded after i took them to court. the owner left town.
sorry, but u get the idea. the place was a decent shop, but there are all kinds of things that can go wrong when you dont know SAABS as well as a dealer does. the dealer would have cost me less in the end and my SAAB wouldnt be in need of its third transmission now...and there would have been a nice warranty.
i believe transmissions from SAAB have come down a lot in cost.
