The instrument cluster, once removed from the dash, is in fact in three pieces. At the very least, you could swap the tach/clock third of the cluster for one that worked without replacing the speedo/odo or the temp/boost/gas gauge. I've never tried to disassemble the tach/clock third of the cluster.
