a/c blows fuse
Posted by Joseph Broach (more from Joseph Broach) on Tue, 13 Jul 1999 11:01:49
Hey guys,
On a recent trip, the a/c stopped working in our '88 900S. We were cruising along on a very hot day, a/c working great, and then suddenly we realized the compressor had quit. Opening the hood revealed that the (30 amp) fuse had blown, and the insulation had melted off of the green ground wire that goes into the top of the compressor. Any suggestions for figuring this out. Is that a switch on top of the compressor that may have shorted out? If so, can it be unscrewed without releasing freon? Thanks for your help; it's hot out there!
