Completely guessing here and if it has any kind of electronic system management I could be very wrong.
You think it floods. In this case you may have an electrical problem, eg. weak spark ... but as a guess then it would not start at all as the more the cranking the more the flooding. When it refuses to start remove a sparking plug, it should be covered in fuel.
Too much fuel thus die on accelaration? Noooo. If it had more fuel it would go faster :-)
If can be electrical ... I don't know if your model has that big rod drinking-glass-like (capacitor type thing) from which a line feeds into the distributor. If you have one of those things worth replacing. Starting problem can be associated with it as it results in weak spark. But the carwould show luck of performance not stalling.
It can be air but unlikely. Before you try starting the car remove the air filter and just see if it starts.
I think your car does not get enough fuel through and maybe it has more problems. 1. Difficult starting could be caused by luck of fuel and you need so much cranking to get the fuel through. 2. On accelaration the engine does not want that much more air, it in fact wants more fuel for the same air.
================================
I guess the car is injection (I know about carburretors :-( ) so anyone else care to help? Staring requires the fuel accumulator (whereever it is) to be in good order else the fuel pressure has to be built up through cranking. Running needs fuel ... I don't think it is getting through. Guess, perished injectors, fuel pump?
If money is not plentiful, checking the electricals is cheaper than the injection system.
