Engine replacement [saabnow]
Posted by The Saab Network (more from The Saab Network) on Wed, 3 Jul 2002 18:27:44
Message from Phil Cleobury Subject: Engine replacement ================= Hi We just wrecked our manual - non turbo - Saab 900 91-92 200K miles!
The car was fine standing still on tick over but when moving off there was a crunching sound from the engine/trans, this happened about 10-15 times.
Finally, after moving it about 10 feet on the driveway there was a final crunch and the engine oil and transmission oil dumped on the drive nice mess! (the engine was off by this time). I think that somthing must have droped in the gears or differential!
The car is in good body condidion, so I am thinking of repairing it so .....A few questions.
Any Idea what happened - it was droping out of second gear for about a year!?
Am I going to need a transmission or engine and transmission? Im not sure how the two are linked!
Has anyone got a low millage transmission or engine transmission or who should I contact to get one from?
Any tips on changing the transmission/engine... I have a workshop manual..but wanted some feedback!
Regards ..static Phil ... Southen New Hampshire USA
