The 900 uses a different transmission than the 9000. 

Because of the fact that the 900 engine is mounted longitudinally and
backwards ( cyl #1 faces driver #4 faces grill), wheras the 9000 is
transverse and the transmission mounts to the right-hand side of the
engine (from front).
