=================
Well I would say that all engines I have ever come across leek at some
point. My 85 900 all original seals leaks slightly with 3 or 4 drips on the
ground in the morning. The 9000t has all new seals and still gives a drip
every few days. That said it should not leak enough to stink up the cabin.

Thoughts.
Yes petrol fumes are considered toxic, but at specific parts per million,
smell itself is not toxic. Though I donāt have a 9-5 I assume it draws the
fresh air from below the windshield area and should draw fresh air not
engine compartment air. I would also try http://www.alldata.com/
to see

if there are any bulletins on this issue, I looked briefly and saw a few
things that could be related. I donāt know if the 9-5 has a pressure
regulator like a regular gm train.

I would look for a different wrench guy or gal, someone who knows Saabs in
and out, I would also check the cabin air filter and replace. A good Saab
tech should be able to tell you whatās wrong and how much with little or no
up front cost and leave the decision to you. And let the tech know another
person thinks rear trani gasket. If you let people on the list know where
you are they may b able to recommend a shop or mechanic in your area. Also
try the Saturday chat when a tech or two are online.

Cheers.
