9K cooling...
Posted by E. L. Mosshamer (more from E. L. Mosshamer) on Wed, 28 Jul 1999 09:21:52
Greetings,

The temperature gauge on my 1991 9000T (165k) sits at about 2/3 this summer,
when the a/c is off. When I turn on the a/c, the indicator moves up to the
bottom of the red zone and sits there. There is no apparent loss of power,
overheating or other problem. The fans both seem to work properly (at least
when the car is parked), and the radiator is reasonably clean.

This problem is new since spring; previously the gauge indicated more normal
(toward the center of the gauge) readings.

Since it indicates a higher but steady temperature, I don't suspect the gauge
nor hardening of the cooling system arteries. But I don't know where else to
look. And it's quite disconcerting....

Any ideas, diagnostic or curative? Thanks in advance.
