I haven't heard anyone mention it yet, but can't a nice vacuum leak cause this
problem? If I unplug the tube connected to the 1-way valve (turbos only, I
believe) at the back of the cam cover on my 9000T then the idle will start
surging a bit between the usual 900 rpm and about 1,300 rpm. It will also
stall from time to time after a cold start under this condition.
In case you're wondering what I'm doing driving around with this thing
disconnected, it pops off by itself under boost because there seems to be
higher than normal pressure under the cam cover. And yes, it burns oil.
