Vacuum line problem. If the line at the intake above the oil filter has
split, I recommend replacing all the vacuum lines to prevent further
problems. We use silicon vacuum hose which stands up to oil and heat
much better and grips the plastic nipples better ( no more blown off
lines from high boost).

On the 88 900T, the car still has a overboost switch under the dash. The
line runs from the intake to the switch then to the gauge. The switches
can go bad. Listen for a whistle under boost from the lower left dash area.
