'89 900tc: lower control arm failure
Posted by Michael Lin (more from Michael Lin) on Wed, 6 Oct 1999 13:15:43
I just had a lower control arm failure on my right front side, and as suggested in earlier posts, it happened while backing up to park. The control arm was replaced and the drive bearings repacked on the right side, but the mechanic suggested that the drive mounts the driveshafts are connected to the transmission have been stressed due to the failure. He suggested that be replaced as well -- on both sides. It's a significant expense so I thought I would check with the list for a second opinion. Has anyone experienced this as well? Is this a safety problem?
Best,
Michael.
