High NOx can sometimes be attributed to two things:
1) clogged air filter - get a new one. 2) a long time idling
In NJ, before the dyno tests, they would allow a 'second chance' test if the car failed the sniffer test. Basically, this involved revving the motor over 3,000 for 30 seconds or so, sustained. This evens all the motor temps to what they should be, and usually the high NOx would drop to within allowable levels.
This *shouldn't* be a factor with the dyno test, but if you were idling on line for a long time, it might be.
Generally my Saabs come in well below the idilng specs. Haven't taken one to a dyno test yet.
