Not the way I've heard it.
The original buyout called for GM to decide to purchase the remaining 50% at a fixed value before 1-Feb-2000. Had GM not done that, then Investor, could (would have to?) force GM to purchase half of Investors's half at another value, leaving GM with 75% & Investor with 25%.
While I'm sure the details aren't final, and the 'value' may be an amount subject to sales, performance, etc. etc., be sure that if the General has decided to buy the other half, they will be. From the public details, Investor doesn't have a choice.
As for counsulting with Investor, if the contract was as has so far been revealed, there isn't much consulting to do...
