Automatic Gearboxes
Posted by Anthony Eckersall (more from Anthony Eckersall) on Fri, 17 Mar 2000 09:45:54
Hi there fellow Saabers,

Well it is now Friday, and I have still not been able to collect my car from
the auto gearbox specialist. He has put it back together, and tried it out,
and he is unhappy with it.

He has now gone out and bought a new valve body for it, putting the costs
even higher. When I last spoke to him at 14:00 today he was installing the
new part. Odear, Odear, things are not looking to good for me are they.

I am bored, and really nissed off. I haven't seen my car in ages. I'm
beginning to forget what it looks like. The gearbox guy said he would ring
me when he had some news, when ever that will be. Bloody car!!!.

By the way, thanks for all your reply's. I do have a question though

The gearbox guy said there are 4 bearings used in the diff. He said that one
of them he can not replace because it is actually part of the gearbox
casing......

My question . Is that really true. Can you have a bearing thats part of
the gearboxes actual outer casing........If so, how much abuse does this
bearing get when you are hammering the car. (Kicking down a lot). One of my
friends told me that the diff bearings on an automatic gear box, get
hammered everytime the car kicks down under power. Is this true ?. As you
can see I am getting increasingly worried that this weird bearing will give
out as well soon. If it does, it will knacker my box again.

Any help is appreciated.
