Ryan,
At the risk of upsetting all of the non-Aero owners of my Saab brethren here's my two cents:
As an owner of both a 2.0T ('03 Arc, not aniv. edition) and an '06 V6 Aero I really appreciate the difference between the two and have grown to prefer the Aero.
While on paper the engine difference seems close, on the road there is a huge difference. The extra torque and horsepower combine to give a thrill the 2.0T cannot match. Putting it this way...the 2.0T is quick, the V6 Aero is fast. (I've added the BSR tuning upgrade for an even faster experience.)
But the differences don't stop there. I just looked at the 60th aniv edition this week (hope you like blue) and noticed the upgrades (seats, rear spoiler, wheels), but as my grand pappy used to say, you can't put lipstick on a pig (no offense meant to the 2.0T).
The suspension upgrades, lowered chassis, body cladding, dual exhaust, thumb shifters (which I'm addicted to) all add up to a much better looking and performing vehicle. The 2.0T is a sedan, the Aero is a sports car.
Even my wife, who drives the car occasionally (translation: every chance she gets!) notices a huge difference and would never let me go back to the 2.0T.
I have to admit, when I see the cars side by side at the dealer or on the road I see a huge difference between the two, the 2.0T looks like it's on stilts and very tame. The Aero looks aggressive and sporty.
Worth the $60 bucks a month every time to me!
Side note: I use the vehicle as a business car for my sales territory and log about 40K per year. I'm getting around 31mpg on the freeway and 24mpg in the city. Not too shabby for a vehicle with this performance.
