2.0 t versus 2.0 T fuel economy Posted by Caarma [Email] (#592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Caarma) on Sun, 15 Apr 2007 19:14:25 In Reply to: Re: It's not just $60 a month, BostonDave, Sun, 15 Apr 2007 18:26:04 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
BostonDave,
37 mpg is impressive, even if your SID may be 5% off.
Do you have an automatic or a manual? I had a 9-3 SS Linear 2.0 t (175 hp) automatic, and I averaged about 28.8 mpg, probably had about 70% highway miles. It went as low as 24 and as high as 35! On this car, I always kept the 16" stock wheels/tires on.
On the pictured 9-3 SC 2.0 T (210 hp) manual, I can't get over 31 mpg on the highway, (revs higher than the automatic on the highway), but I've never gotten below 25 mpg so the extremes of F.E. are closer together. The manual is more efficient in the city. My average with about 50% highway and a slightly heavier, 17" wheeled, less aerodynamic vehicle than the 9-3 SS Linear is at 27.8 mpg. That's pretty good for a 210 hp wagon, but it just seems less impressive because I can't get those astronomical highway figures that I got with the Linear.
If you want to spread the good word about Saab fuel economy, you can report your figures on the fueleconomy.gov site and on a new site called truedelta.com.
Take it easy and keep hypermiling.
