I just went to a Best Buy and had the radio install guy screw the mount into the open "tray" area down at the bottom of the console (where the rubber pad is, below the "cigarette lighter". He ran the power out from the radio. With the Garmin I have the power attaches to the mount so there are no wires to attach when putting the unit in.

The release button for the mount is on the bottom of the GPS unit and hard to reach but there is enough flex in the mount that pushing down on the GPS causes the button to depress (it hits the center) and releases the GPS. Very nice.

This particular Garmin has no problem receiving signals in this location. You'll want to verify that with your unit before installing. I really like the location - it isn't any more difficult to look at it while driving than the built in nav would be.

When I get out of the car I just unmount the nav. You can carry it with you or just put it in the console storage (I've got a cloth bag I use - I think its actually a shoe shining "mitt").

The mount is still visible. To get around that I took a soft sunglasses case and cut a slot in the back of it so it slides over the mount. The case is gray - looking at it you have no idea that the mount is there.

This mount does fill a portion of the lower tray which pretty much makes it useless for storage. But the upper tray takes my iPhone still even with the GPS unit in the mount. This particular Garmin has bluetooth for hands free and it works pretty well - it would be far better as a phone if I had hooked it up to the radio but then I'd have to select the aux mode or something... it didn't make much sense.

The onstar phone is far superior but no bluetooth. I use that one if I'm calling someone but take calls on the Garmin (since everyone has my iPhone number).
