Torque for the engines Posted by Caarma [Email] (#592) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Caarma) on Tue, 5 May 2009 11:21:56 In Reply to: Real live experience, Stephen Goldberger, Mon, 4 May 2009 04:53:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Peak torque on the old 2.3 turbos starts at 1900 rpm I think whereas it takes until 2500 rpm with the new 2.0 turbo (even though you may be right in that it requires less boost). The max torque may be higher with the new engine, but with a manual tranny, the 2.3 is probably easier to start off with at low rpms and doesn't have to rev as high to pass.
I had the 2.0 T and it was fun. I've since moved to the 2.8 V6. The extra torque down really low is very noticeable. Keep in mind that I switched from a manual to an automatic.
