Why use an oil which "may" be inferior? I'll be one of the first to state all this oil hoopla may be only noise. But why risk engine damage for what you would save on an oil change? I just bought Total Quartz Energy 9000 in 0W/30 weight tonight for the upcoming oil change in my wife's 9-3SC. Cost was $39.90 for 6 litres, which is approximately $6.30 per quart, and it meets the GM/SAAB/Opel specs for the 2.0T engine.
There are less expensive quality synthetics, such as the same Total oil in 5W/40 weight which I use in my 9-5 and only cost me $5.95 per litre or ~$5.67/qt, but why risk it for the $3.75 I would save on the oil change.
