,Man you're really pushing it with this one ((swedecar)) Posted by vvack0matic [Email] (#1443) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vvack0matic) on Sat, 18 Jan 2014 17:12:37 In Reply to: HELP Acute Failure of 5 Speed Tranny, Sondeen [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 18 Jan 2014 10:32:22 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
One minute Im suspecting trans failure next minute I'm suspecting clutch failure.
As a 9-3 owners I am limited to the autos but as a c-900 owner I can tell you the sycros are shot in the manual transmission meaning they pop out of gear(new transmission time) however if you're able to hold it in gear and the car remains in neutral with the clutch pedal fully disengaged means clutch is shot. but still theres another however....
My knowledge only dates back to the c-900 and they had hydraulic clutches even with the clutch engaged and say the shifter was in 3rd firmly holding it or not if the motor spins and the car doesn't move you will feel a little forward motion but not enough to get the car rolling. if this is the case its a massive clutch failure,.. however taking into account its cold, very cold prob. -10 degrees where you are and what Saabaficionado said might have happened as in the shifter shaft broke away from the transmission, but sadly if this happens there would be no need to hold it into gear, because the shifter shaft would just flop around without resistance of any kind.
I`m sure Swedecar has come up against this particular issue in his time of Saab mechanics and would be wise to heed what he has to say on the matter. personally I'd look at a clutch failure (or slave failure) but Swedecar is the one to set it straight. if he chimes in I agree with anything he has to say,
just between you and me, I`d nominate him for member of the year award but I'm sure he won many times over, his word is golden.
