CEL after fuel pump replacement Posted by Gator Ray [Email] (#1044) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Gator Ray) on Mon, 11 Mar 2019 10:56:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Unfortunately, my 2008 9-3 popped up a CEL on the drive home after a fuel pump replacement at my go-to Indy shop. I observed most of the R/R, including the installation of the FP. I noticed the difficulty they had turning the lockring, even with two technicians involved. When installed, it seemed to me and one of the techs that the lockring could have gone on a little bit further, but the one who removed the original FP said that the new lockring looked to be in the same position.
They did not use the "tool" I've seen mentioned on this board. We replaced my wife's 9-3 fuel pump at this shop some years ago, however, the work was done by a different tech who also did not use the infamous tool.
I'm ready to blow a gasket and have a return appt. scheduled Wednesday for another go at it.
Aside from filler neck and other hoses, I'm suspecting the FP gasket/lockring...
Other thoughts? Thanks
