Thanks to you and the others for the polite responses.
I still check out the 9-5 BB because I still appreciate SAABs and really enjoyed much about our SE Wagon; it just wasn't fulfilling as many of our needs as we had hoped. I have also had a longstanding appreciation for SAABs - have admired their unique combination of safety, avant garde design, intuitive ergonomics and excellent down-the-road feel. So many other car manufacturers could stand to learn so much from SAAB.
That being said, I do think that significant reliability issues (DI's, blown turbo units, etc...) that seem to occur with relatively high frequency in a given model should merit attention by the manufacturer. Yes, it was fortunate that the complete turbo unit in my car was replaced under warranty at 43K but what about the next time? In this age of reliability standards continually being raised by Toyota, Honda, etc... the choice of committing to a perhaps more enjoyable but less reliable car becomes more difficult.
I think you make a good point about SAABs and Subarus. I too have noted this similarity. Each in the own ways, they seem to reflect 'out-of-the-box-thinking' and individualism - qualities that seem so lacking in many aspects of day-to-day life.
Thanks again for the hospitality and courtesy - very much appreciated.
Enjoy your day and your SAAB!!
David
