Since we just bought it two weeks ago and winter is at least supposed to be winding down, I left the Bridgestone Potenza RE92's on it - they are 215/45 17's - classed as all-season. I wondered how they would fare in some real snow and finally got a chance to test out the car and the tires on my way home from the office last night. We live on top of the biggest hill in the Farmington area - Voter Hill - 1.4 miles with two stretches approaching 20%. The road had at least 4-5 inches of heavy snow on top of a half inch of sleet. I never even had to shift down out of third gear - the car squirmed a little on the steep pitches but I could feel the AWD system doing its thing. At the risk of inflaming everyone on this BB, I will say that the SAAB with 4 Nokian Hakka 1's WITH studs left me stranded several times under similar circumstances with the traction control off and with it engaged. So...overall I would have to say it was a positive experience. I think I'll put on some dedicated snow tires next fall but was pleased with the traction the AWD and all season tires afforded me under some fairly extreme conditions. Any other questions about the car, feel free to ask.
Good evening.
