I installed a combination oil pressure and voltmeter gauge in my 2000 9-5 Aero. However, I did put a hole in the dash to do this. The oil pressure switch on the 4 cyclinder Aero engine is 14 X 2 mm thread. If you choose a VDO gauge, they make a combination oil pressure switch and sending unit for the gauge; this would eliminate the need for a "splitter" and would also rule out the oil pressure switch as a cause of your problem.
I suspect that your oil switch is not the problem. When these fail the oil pressure light fails to come on at all. Usually, a flickering oil pressure warning light indicates a failing oil pump or low pressure due to other causes. If you suspect the switch and want to rule it out, replacement of the switch is your least expensive course of action.
