Options, Options which do I choose....

The decision was easy for us. We bought a '00 Gary Fisher which came loaded with a lot of really cool things I wanted but would never actually spend the bucks for (bike and ski racks, bike, 'fridge, self leveling shocks, 17" wheels, aero air dams, sliding cargo floor, retractable cargo net, clear side lights, upgraded stereo, and heated leather seats. I didnt see any wagons that didnt have the leather/heated seats option. I dont think there are many true "base" cars shipped. The Gary Fisher package also made the color choice way too easy, black or silver (black of course to match my '89 SPG). Much of the decision on options is made for you by what's available on the dealers lot at the time you're ready to buy. Ordering a loaded car to your specs is going to seriously curtail your bottom line bargaining power. There are no wrong choices just personal customizing ones. You'll LOVE the car.
