I went through the same thought process when i replaced the stock with the infinity's a couple of years back. I think the bottom line is, as suggested, that the Infinity & Boston Acoustic replacements are more sensitive than the HK stocks, which ends up compensating for their 4 ohm ratings. The difference in output level is minor, and not noticable to most.. You may be able to measure the difference, but most ears won't notice the difference. I would say, if anything, that the stock center is slightly more diminished, which given the cheap construction and smaller size, is probably a very good thing.. as it really is intended to fill in the gap between the l & r speakers.
If you're one of those meticulous types.. then you have a few options.. One is to mess with the inline resistance for either the center speaker or the new replacements. But then again, now you have a center using a different driver, with different tonal characteristics.. so ideally you'll want to replace the center with a similar driver to match your new L&R dash replacements...
Of course another option would be to simply disconnect the center speaker and see how that sounds... after all , it is how most of the high end audio systems work in cars these days..
