I think the big problem is that Saabs are seemingly over-priced at their MSRP level, and therefore the residual as a percentage of MSRP seems very low, but if you do the residual as a percentage to what you actually paid, it's in-line with many other car makes, though probably not at the MB or BMW level (though I'm guessing at about the Audi level).
I've never seen a near-luxury marque like Saab discount so heavily so much of the time -- and so publicly. Volvo does year end sales to some extent, but Saab seems to have some kind of deal going most of the year. BMW, MB, and to a lesser extent Audi, only seem to run discounts very selectively, and then seem to discount the cars by giving a good money rate on the leases, which doesn't de-value their MSRP as much.
Leasing Saabs without incentives can be expensive, since you're paying for the "hit" the car takes in value for the X years of the lease. Probably the best thing to do is buy a two-year old Saab.
