whether the AC is on or off. We have the 2.3t wagon automatic, with automatic climate control (part of the premium package). The AC compressor is always on unless you select economy mode for ACC, doing the dehydration and reheating trick (talk about waste of fuel). I have deliberately turned on the AC compressor from time to time, just to lubricate the compressor seals. I can't even notice the compressor coming on.
