Might be too expensive for Saab to offer that kind of flexibility since US distribution and the product pipeline reward "standardization" more profitabily than choice. Exporting that many variations, or setting up enough dealers to support that kind of variation, would probably hurt the bottom line more than can be increased due to increased choices at this level.
Saab's first mission is to be "considered" as a viable alternative among US European import buyers, and they have more work (and expense) to do on more important factors (improving resale, broadening distribution, more advertising) than on developing a way to support infinite choice. They need volume to thrive, later they can bring back finer degrees of choice.
Look at Honda's history for the blueprint and path to profitable penetration of the US market.
