It all depends on your take on this...
The 6 cyl. is a native GM design that was modified for SAAB.
You will see notes on here regarding rough idle, difficult starting, raucous/noisy acceleration, higher maintenance costs/requirements, etc... something like you'd find in a Pontiac Grand Am or Oldsmobile Alero.
The 4 cyl. in both the base and the Aero are engineered and built by SAAB.
SAAB has been doing 4 cyl. turbo engines for years and, in my opinion, are very good at it.
For the price range you are in, I would definitely go Aero. It is more fun to drive and you can rest comfortably knowing the history of what you're driving.
