1999-2009 [Subscribe to Daily Digest] |
Good lists, both. I've added some items and comments, below:
--Rick '99 SE V6
More hits:
Excellent radio-CD-cassette head unit (including weather band). Tuner sensitivity very good.
Steering wheel audio controls.
Effective in-glass antenna(s).
The in-dash cupholder (still makes me smile after two years).
Night display.
The little overhead swivel light.
One-touch windows-sunroof.
Very effective solar glass.
Excellent climate control system.
Ease of oil-filter changes.
Fold-down rear headrests.
Double visors.
Divine:
1. Puddle lights and footwell lights
2. Best normal headlights Ive seen
3. Seats are so comfortable
4. Vent direction controls
5. Turning lights come on in reverse - ideal for backing out of garage
6. Narrow sills once door is opened
7. The lovely dark wood dash (2001 aero)
8. Proper security system on a US spec car
9. Rear fog lights on a us spec car
10. That little ticket holder on the A pillar by the windscreen
Other misses:
No current mileage or voltage readouts (as with the 9k).
The "toolkit" (unforgivably absent--Saabs had always previously come with very good kits).
The way the storage well lid blocks the trunk light when open.
The absence of alloy as a significant suspension/subframe material (as compared to 9k).
Shoulder belts--no locator LED & no vertical adjustment.
Oddly configured and limited interior storage.
Would like more (in-out) steering wheel adjustment range.
Absurdly complex cabin and engine air filter replacement.
Oil dipstick--impossible to read w/ clean oil, cheesy.
Devilish
1. No synchro on reverse
2. Memory seat button has to be held down all through time it takes to adjust, doesnt work off remote.
3. Lack of lateral support to seats
4. Gas door should lock/unlock with drivers door. *The 9k did this.
5. Spindly light plastic indicator stalks with unpleasant action *Agreed--absolutely cheesy switchgear out of character with a lux sedan.
6. Headlight stalk dip to full brights control is pull back for on, pull back for off, not a separate position for brights and dip - plus the pull back is too long a distance.
7. No full size spare *Also bugged me in my 9k, but I never touched it in 13 years, so maybe moot?
8. Can passenger door mirror drop automatically on selecting reverse gear *Yes, why not?
9. Vanity mirror lights are too dim
10. Floor mats come free from locators too easily *Should also have reinforced heel pad on driver's side.
