The manual for my 2002 Arc Wagon is 272 pages long. The "Afterheater, V6 engine cars" section is at page 82. After switching the ignition off, hold down the "AUTO" button on the ACC panel for about a second, and the SID will show "spare heater activated". In 5 seconds, it will show how much heat is available expressed as a percentage. Press OFF on ACC panel to shut it off. It turns off automatically when ignition is switched on. The heater can be activated up to 10 minutes after the engine has stopped, providing there is enough heat left.
The manual does not comment on whether, when or under what circumstances point this function shuts itself off automatically.
