My wife's '01 9-5 LPT wagon w/auto tranny (bought new 2 months ago) currently has 3k miles-her commute to work is only 3 miles one way, with several lights and speed limits ranging from 15-35mph through a cuple of school zones and busy intersections-roughly a 15 minute trip. Her gas mileage citywise is 16.5MPG on both regular and premium unleaded at an average speed of 24mph. That's at 90+% city driving. I expect her gas mileage to be such since the engine probably doesn't get to optimum operating temperature during that span. On the highway, however-we get upwards of 28-30mpg at average speeds of 55-70mph. That's usually with 90+% highway driving. A couple of blasts in sport mode to triple digit plus speeds can quickly deflate that, though. :-)
Our typical average with a 30% city, 70% highway driving mix is 24-26mpg.
