I am a very dissatisfied 2001 Saab 9-5 owner.
Since only a few hundred miles, I have had problems with the suspension and the AC. My suspension is constantly "loose" and now squeaking and gives me a feeling of a loss of stability when I drive over any bumpy road, whether it be a small bump or a large bump. I've brought my car back 6 times and still have problems.
The "repairs" have been a tightening of suspension (including tightening of the loose and repetative- not properly torqued anti-sway bolts), greasing of joints and finally the replacing of the stabilization bar bushings. My car is brand new and I am starting to get charged for the suspension tightening. The tightening/greasing only lasts for about 2 days, then it starts right back again. Recently it has gotten a hell of a lot worse. The entire suspension squeaks and makes usual noises when I drive. I can duplicate some of the sounds by pushing on the car in park and it sounds like a "squeaky bed". The ride is very loose and sounds like my 9-5 is falling apart as I drive. On a few occasions, the steering wheel jerked alot to one side and makes terrified as if the car's steering might loose control.
Anyone else with these similar problems. Saab customer service isn't much help, as the dealer acknowledges the problem, however isnt doing much to help me even though my car I feel might be a safety hazard. I have requested the Saab Service Specialist Engineer to come out to check my car on multiple occasions, however, I am still waiting. Recently, it is almost a month since I last called the dealer.
The dealer blames it on the roads I drive and tells me that the suspension has to be tightened as per Saab's service manual every 5,000 miles or even more frequent. He has been charging me $65 to perform this service. I drive my car a lot and according to other Saab owners, they said that every 5,000 miles doesn't make much sense.
Also, I have problems with my AC. It omits a loud shreak/squeal when it is on. It hasn't happened since the winter months started, however, whenever it sounded as if the compressor kicked on, it made a loud squeal. My Saab mechanic said it was "normal" that it is common in Saabs.
Also with the AC it gives out a foul smell. On some occasions it smells sweet like anti-freeze, on other times it smells like a rotten fish smell. I went back and forth on many times and finally the dealer disinfected it. I have been waiting almost 2 months for the disinfectant to leave the AC as the dealer requested to keep waiting. Now it smells worse. Myself as well as my passengers feel nauseaous. My Saab dealer has no solution except to wait more....for what I have no idea.
So, does this look like I have a lemon?
Any response/feedback I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thank you.
