Can V6 turbo be bypassed?

Has anyone tried to simply bypass the V6 turbo? I really like my 9-5 but I'm really not happy about upwards of $2000 for a turbo replacement. I'm a very, very sedate driver so I doubt that I've ever actually engaged the turbo. Moreover, it only boosts half the engine on the V6, so I really doubt that I'll miss it.
I've done lots of interesting workarounds in my day. Connect supply hose to return hose, supply pipe to return pipe... not rocket science, really.
