Bypassing the turbo does not sound like a good idea. Yes, you might be a sedate driver, but you would be surprised at how much the turbo does on the V6. Yes, it only gets power from half the engine, but it charges the whole engine. When I choose to drive sedately I can still feel the turbo very much. Ever accelerate lightly from a stop light and notice you're still blowing by everyone else and the car is only revving at around 2300rpm? That's all turbo. Going up a long straight-away doing about 60 the car stays in 4th gear, 2k rpm and the boost gauge touches the red and you can accelerate up the hill if you want without down shifting. Most cars struggle to find the correct gear and then rev really high to get you up that hill. The turbo is responsible for giving the engine all that low-end torque you need even when you're driving lightly. I just had my '01 V6 in the shop a few weeks ago and spent only $1450 to have it rebuilt. Runs like a champ now. You might want to look into that.
