Wow, "I can't believe I have to pay more at the dealer than I would at an independent shop who uses aftermarket crap and employs techs with no certification..." You, sir, are a moron. If you don't want to pay what the dealer charges, TAKE YOUR CAR SOMEWHERE ELSE!!! It is against the law for the dealer to perform repairs on your car WITHOUT your permission, so when asked for authorization to perform the repairs SAY NO!!! When you've paid more money in the end to fix the original problem AND what the independent shop screwed up, then you'll have something different to cry about. Swedish Solutions, Back Bay, Portland Motor Sales and all the others locally who claim to SPECIALIZE in SAAB all bring their vehicles to 1 place when they're stumped...you guessed it, the dealer. You have a high-end european sedan, not a Hyundai (although that's probably what you should be driving judging from this thread), so service it properly and it will return the favor.
