The Volvo station wagon is a very safe car. It scored a 47 in the recent HLDI tests meaning it was rated much safer than average. The Volvo sedan didn't do nearly as well scoring a 72 which rated only safer than average, a 25 point difference.
There are no HLDI stats on the 9-5 wagon but the 9-5 sedan scored a 55 which was also much safer than average. Wagons are generally safer than sedans and if the 9-5 wagon were 25 points safer than the sedan like the Volvo wagon is over the Volvo sedan, the 9-5 wagon would have the best safety rating of any vehicle period.
