Just as a disclaimer I don't know a whole lot about how the engine and auto tranny work together, but wouldn't the torque converter take more of the strain than the crankshaft? The crankshaft/rods don't really have much more force on them than if you were to go up a hill in 3rd or 4th at a low rpm and high boost, right?
