That's true. I was comparing used vs new car ownership which is a little off topic (but usually does not have a crossover point unless you've got a real lemon). In this case though, there is enough residual value in the car that to sell + buy a newer used 9-5 might make sense if the repair costs are going to escalate vs the repair costs on the newer model. The trouble is of course, one really has no way of knowing... sometimes the evil you know is better than the evil you don't! At least the V6 doesn't sludge, and at 83k, it's (hopefully) already had the timing belt + pulleys done and has time on the clock there... Probably that other guy that went through 3 turbos and a headgasket and then replaced the sludged engine in 65k should ditch the lemon... but yeah, one can do a lot of repairs at an indy for $7-8k!
I really like the -2001 aesthetics (very Scandinavian), he's got a nice car... The 2002 MCE kind of got more GM to me (still nice), and the most recent is really strange looking... but time marches on and now's not a bad time to look for low mileage 2005's coming off lease...
