That is ONLY TRUE of the 9-3 Sport Sedan.
The 9-5 and "Classic" 9-3 don't have that problem. In fact, if you had two 9-5s that took the same type of key (there are two, and "early " key and a "late" key), you could change all the locks on one to match the other and have the same keys work both cars. I've done it successfully with two remotes I bought from eBay.
That CANNOT be done with the 9-3 SS. That key (which actually has no metal "key") is a two-way "marriage"...
