OK so last weekend a rebuilt TD04 turbo found a new home under the hood of my 03 Linear SW. Used original coolant inlet/ drain lines with shims and no problems.

Run with my stock ECU for several days, and TD04 worked flawlessly as if it was deigned for it. I felt noticeable power gain in upper end and it spooled up just as quick. The needle went into 10-20% red under full throttle momentarily, which was never the case with GT17 (unless outside temp. was -20F.) It was like TD04 was called on full throttle, boost shot up then software cut in saying 'Wow where did this much boost came from, I go to back off a little.'

Then I got a 250hp AERO stock ECU married up with my Linear, truly plug-n-play. Not so much difference off the line, in low end and driving around town, but it pushes the car harder and quicker over the legal limit merging onto the highway. My right foot is busy on one pedal to the other and back, trying to check it out, and the road feels kinda shorter than it was. Frankly, I was expecting AERO-spec. to be bit quicker, but with Linear suspension and brake, it is enough for now.

Overall, I did all the work and it was well worth the effort and cost just over $700 for trubo/ ECU conversion plus fresh OEM coolant and Mobil 1/ filter, as well as new thermostat/ coolant temp sensor while I was at it. Oh and those $11/pc AERO plugs too. And peace of mind with more reliable TD04 turbo.

Thanks all for help, especially Nick at GenuineSAAB.com and Dave with Xsboostturbochargers for kind assistance over the phone.
