My 02 Aero SW (50k) cranks over just like yours and it has been this way for as long as I can remember -- both before AND after installing a new battery. I'm inclined to agree with MikeN that your crank speed is probably inherent to our 9-5. As for the difficulty starting in the morning, mine just recently began doing the same thing with the same symptoms. After reading some prior posts, I thought it may be related to the summer blend of gas and the fact that I recently started parking my car outside overnight (new boat in the garage).
