I've been using Amsoil Euro Formula 5W40 in our 2003 Wagon, and I can tell you that I change it every 5,000 to 6,000 Kms. We mostly drive short distances in the city with an occasional 800 Km highway trip. I find that by 5,000 Km the oil starts to get very black and finely gritty.
That being said, I don't think the 25,000 Km claim counts towards our cars, which are very punishing to oil. Amsoil is great oil though, and I noticed the disappearance of all coffee grounds from the sump after the first use, and haven't seen any since.
