You are rather missing the point - the tires are made out of softer compounds then they need to be and hence they wear out faster than they really need to.

I'd not disagree that softer=better grip and thus a faster wear rate. For the most part OEM tires are way to soft for NORMAL drivers irrespective of the performance capabilities of the vehicle. We should not forget that there is a lot more to tire technology that just the tread compound - consider the huge amount of power the tire is expected to cope with - a lesser tire could get torn apart..

It dosent get away from a commercial fact that drivers want/have to replace like for like - you are kind of 'hooked'. Accept it
