Why would you buy a 130,000 mile car with an automatic transmission? The 9-5 Saabs, be them Aero models or less prestigeous versions don't seem to have much in them over that many miles! From what I've seen and heard, and read here on saabnet, expect 150,000 max out of that 4 speed transmission then fork over say $5000 (I'm "guessing") for a new automatic transmission. I hope you don't drive the car alot. And you better hope that the last owner did all those flushes and fluid changes religeously and more frequently than the manual says for the transmission to have much life left in it. Don't mean to be a nay-sayer, but I'm just cautioning you. You fuel mileage is not the big issue here! Please thoroughly test car and have an independant saab mechanic check it out as a pre-buy inspection first. You need to also be careful of engine sludge, especially occuring in the 1999 through 2003 9-5 models. There are more sludged engines on automatics 'till GM (who owned and screwed-up Saab) got the PVC#6 modification right and installed on every 9-5 car from 2004 onward. Buy a 5 speed manual, or an automatic starting model year 2004. Saab lost it's greatness when General Motors took it over and turned it into cheap, engine exploding, transmission failing peice of ... hopefully the new owner, European Spyker corp. will get saab back on track. I love real saabs, you can count on them, IMHO.
